The Coaches Conference is open to all coaches of any level, from elementary to all-star and collegiate. Every year MCCA brings in local and national speakers to cover a variety of important topics and the latest trends in cheerleading.

Brian Bridges

Brian is a graduate of the University of Arkansas with a BS in Mathematics and from Arkansas State University with a MS in Education. He founded B2 Cheer & Dance at 18 years old and ran the company for fifteen years until it merged with Varsity Spirit in 2019. He is currently the program director for UCA-B2 camps in Arkansas and is a V!ROC choreography director. Brian has been involved in the cheerleading and dance industry for over 20 years as a judge, rules interpreter, event producer, choreographer, scholastic coach, collegiate coach, all-star coach, conference presenter, and instructor. Brian's choreography has been seen by millions through nationally televised bowl game halftime shows (Liberty Bowl in 2015, 2016, and 2017) and the ESPN productions of the National High School Cheerleading Championships. He is married to Ashley. Together, they have two children: Lorigan (9) and Henley Mae (5).

 

Kirby Lynch

Kirby is currently the Head All Girl Cheerleading Coach and Mascot Coordinator at the University of Delaware. She has helped the Blue Hens win 5 consecutive UCA Game Day National Championships along with third place finishes in the All Girl DI Division (‘21 & ‘22) and a fourth place finish in 2023. Kirby spent four years as a Varsity Apparel Representative for the states of Delaware and Maryland and is now the Varsity State Director for the state of New York. Kirby cheered at Indiana University where she was a part of 4 UCA National Champion teams and one second place team. She also competed on the US National All Girl Team and took home five World Championships. Kirby has been with Varsity for 12 years where she’s worked on Core Staff, College Staff, and Masters Camps for UCA Camps.

 

Bill Ahern

Bill is a graduate of the University of KY. He has 36 years with UCA and Varsity. Bill works with curriculum, safety and staff training. He also works with the NFHS at state and national level.

 

Yarica "Rica" Charleston

Rica Charleston is a native of Fort Worth, TX and a graduate of Grambling State University a HBCU in Louisiana. She has been in the cheer industry for 13 + years and has coached all over the country, in states like New York, Virginia, and more. She is a 3x national championship choreographer and recently made headlines with Texas Southern University, the first HBCU to win a national championship, after she created their winning Spirit Rally Routine for NCA College Nationals. She is now the Head Coach at The University of North Texas and when she is not coaching she is spending time at home with her family and playing with the family dogs Lance and Coco.

 

Amanda Berg

Coach Amanda is in her 16th year as Strength and Conditioning Coach at Dassel-Cokato High School. She is a Physical Education teacher with various strength and conditioning and PE Classes. She runs the training programs for athletics as well as off-season and non-athletes in grades 7-12. She has a well established youth “Charge Up” program for students grades 2-6. Coach Berg is an Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran who served in the Wisconsin National Guard as a Truck Driver and Fitness Assessment Coordinator. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls with a degree in Health and Human Performance where she also played softball for 4 years and was an active member of the strength staff. She holds a Master’s of Science degree in Physical Education: Coaching of Sport from Southwest Minnesota State University. Coach Berg is married with three kids ages 15,14, and 11.

 

Steven Hogenson

Steven's cheerleading career started in high school and quickly evolved into participating in allstar cheer my senior year. He then went on to cheer at the University of Minnesota. Steven began coaching allstar in 2007 and have been at Northern Elite since 2008. He also has experience coaching high school and judging events regionally. Steven has been actively choreographing routines for about a decade. Some choreography highlights include creating state championship and national champion routines for schools regionally.

 

Jen Kroshus

Jen has been involved with all aspects of cheerleading for the past 35 years. Originally from Rochester, she grew up being involved as an athlete, mentor and coach in a recreational program, as well as Rochester's first all-star program. She cheered on the sidelines in high school as well as competed in all-star. During college she made the U of M's first All Girl team and coached at various recreational, all star and school cheer programs throughout the Twin Cities. After spending 10 years at Eagan High School, she moved to Farmington and established the Farmington Competition Cheer Teams, which is now entering it's 12 season as a program. She grew the program from a high school varsity team into a 13 team program that also has an established recreational component.

 

Javis Borgh

Coach Javis is an advanced tumbler with fifteen years of experience. His passion for tumbling began when he started in the allstar cheerleading industry in 2008. Since then he has attended conferences, coached world ranked athletes, and has helped athletes overcome the toughest mental blocks. He is constantly building upon his already expansive knowledge base and prides himself on his continuous student mentality when it comes to the sport of tumbling. Graduating from the University of Minnesota in 2018 with a B.S. in Kinesiology, Javis believes strongly in using his knowledge of body mechanics to help properly build strength and mobility in order to minimize the risk of both acute and chronic injury. His mission is to help athletes realize their fullest tumbling potential and give them the tools, training, knowledge, and confidence to assist them in reaching it.

 

Justin Larson

Justin has been coaching cheerleading since 2001. He has cheered at the high school and college level and has coached high school and all star here in Minnesota. Justin has brought his team to the NHSCC (National Championship) twice since 2017, and has worked to grow and develop cheerleading in rural areas of Minnesota.
