I grew up in Brooklyn Center and celebrated my graduation in 1991 just a few blocks East of the MSHSL offices at Brooklyn Center High School. I was fortunate to have several transformational coaches and teachers that helped me grow and develop. After high school, I attended Hamline University in St. Paul, majoring in Social Studies and Physical Education, and played four years of collegiate football for the Pipers under legendary coach, Dick Tressel. My teaching and coaching career started on the Mesabi Iron Range at Virginia High School and continued at Nashwauk-Keewatin High school. I coached a variety of sports and served as head football coach for 11 years. After two brief stints as principal at Nashwauk-Keewatin and Greenway High School, I served as the Activities Director at Brainerd High School from 2011-2021. We continue to call Brainerd our home. My wife, Amy, teaches middle school PE/DAPE at Forestview Middle School in Baxter. I have three children. My daughter, Katie (22), is a recent graduate of University of MN-Twin Cities and working in health care administration in the Twin Cities. RJ (20) lives at home and works full-time for a beverage distributor. My youngest, George (17) will be a senior at Brainerd High School this fall.  I enjoy fitness, cooking, sporting events (“RTB, Ski-U-Mah, Go Gophers!”), concerts and spending time outdoors. As a family, we spend time together traveling, wake surfing, listening to music and watching movies of all kinds.
